Time is key for your organisation, and is often as important as your ability to deliver. Whether you're chasing a new market opportunity guided by a limited window of time, or delivering a service to an existing customer, establishing and meeting expectations is a key factor for success. Having an online project management capability, which provides customers and partners access and updates is your first building block for project management success.

Coping with the changing nature of projects

The most important thing when managing projects is keeping everyone up to date. Sometimes deadlines are hard and fast, but a more common scenario sees scope adjusted along the way, and with it timelines. Through all of this change, what is important is that expectations are adjusted, so that the project is a success in everyones mind. In evolutionone as these changes occur everyone on the project team, including the customer, is notified immediately.

Example in Action:

You have just got the go ahead from a customer for an opportunity you've been working on with them, so you update the quote to an order, and then start a new project.

You load in the project team, add the key tasks and milestones and assign them to those responsible. The customer is automatically notified and invited into the project in your service & support centre.

A week on, in a planned 2 week project, and the customer discovers something that they need to include in the project, beyond the initial scope. They enter the task(s) into the project, and you are notified immediately. After reviewing the requested task, you enter an estimated completion time, an estimated cost if applicable and enter in a sheduled completion date.

The customer is notified, and can review the updated project plan immediately. They may start a private discussion linked to the project to confirm a few things and come to agreement, and ask you to update the quote/order.

You are notified of the discussion, go and update the quote/order, and again, the customer is notified of the updated quote and can view it and the history of changes to the order in your service & support centre anytime.
